Our History

Our practice has been a trusted part of the local community for over 50 years. While our history is long, our approach has always been personal.

Originally established as G H Witt Opticians in the 1970s, the practice evolved over the years and, in 2002, was taken over by the previous owners and rebranded as Infocus Optometrists. Under their leadership, the business grew successfully into four practices across Hackney. During this time, I was proud to be part of that journey — joining the practice as a 20-year-old and becoming its longest-serving team member.

In 2019, following health challenges faced by one of the directors, the decision was made to sell the practice. I was honoured to take ownership of the business I had helped build for over two decades. That same year, Zak & Adam Eyecare was born, as we continued to serve and grow our loyal patient base.

Over the years, our reputation has expanded well beyond our original neighbourhood. We now welcome patients from across Hackney, Tottenham, Newham, and beyond. To reflect this growth and our deep connection to the area, we recently undertook a long-overdue refurbishment and proudly reintroduced ourselves as Hackney Eyecare.

Today, we remain committed to providing exceptional, personalised eye care — from the moment you walk through our doors to the final fitting of your glasses. When you visit us, you are never just another appointment. You are seen by people who know your history, understand your vision needs, and genuinely care.
