Zak is the face of Hackney Eyecare and the driving force behind the practice’s commitment to the local community. Having worked within these same walls for over 20 years, Zak has built a reputation for excellence in frame styling and precision lens dispensing.
In 2019, Zak took over as the Practice Owner, fulfilling a long-term vision to create a modern, independent eyecare hub that stays true to its Hackney roots. With two decades of hands-on experience, he understands that choosing the right eyewear is a blend of clinical necessity, comfort, and personal style.

Nur | Assistant Manager
Nur is our dedicated full-time Practice Manager and the "engine room" of Hackney Eyecare. A high-achieving graduate from King’s College London with a degree in Biomedical Science, she brings an analytical and professional approach to the daily running of the practice.
Nur combines her academic background with an exceptional eye for detail and style. She is our go-to frame stylist, with a natural talent for matching the perfect eyewear to a patient’s personality and lifestyle. Her deep knowledge of the latest lens technologies ensures that every patient receives a solution that is as functional as it is fashionable.
As a bilingual professional, Nur plays a vital role in supporting our large local Turkish community, ensuring that every patient can communicate their needs clearly and feel fully supported during their visit. Her friendly, organized, and expert approach makes her a cornerstone of the Hackney Eyecare experience.
Shazina | Senior Optometrist
Shazina has been a cornerstone of Hackney Eyecare since the very beginning of her career. Having completed her pre-registration training right here in this practice, she has been a qualified Optometrist since 2005, making her our longest-serving clinician.
Because Shazina has grown with the practice, she is an integral part of our team and a true patient favorite. Her long-standing presence means she has provided continuous care for many of our patients for nearly two decades, building deep bonds of trust and a comprehensive understanding of their eye health history.
With a wealth of clinical experience, Shazina is known for her thorough examinations and her gentle, patient-focused approach. Her dedication to the Hackney community and her expert clinical insight ensure that every person who sits in her chair receives the highest standard of eyecare.
Faisal | Optometrist & MECS Specialist
Faisal is a Senior Optometrist at Hackney Eyecare with a wealth of clinical experience and a deep passion for eye health. While he provides expert routine eye examinations, Faisal also specializes in the Minor Eye Conditions Service (MECS).
His advanced training allows him to assess and manage urgent eye health issues, such as sudden redness, discomfort, or vision changes. In addition to his clinical seniority, Onol is a fluent Turkish speaker.
